What to expect?
The Reiki session lasts a total of 2 hours. Prior, a discussion will usually take place during an initial chat over the phone with Tavia, so the client will know what to expect the day of the session. She will not ask many questions, as she has a very strong guide during her session that guides her to where the session, energy and healing is needed. She believes, the body tells the story and speaks to her. During that call, the client will be given an opportunity to ask any questions they may have about what to expect.
For the actual session, the client will rest comfortably on a massage table on their back with their shoes removed. The recipient remains clothed and lies on a table and relaxes. The practitioner gently places their hands in a series of non-intrusive positions on or near the body. There is no massage or manipulation. The entire body is treated rather than just specific areas. The session will then proceed with the Reiki Practitioner moving through specific standard Reiki hand positions beginning at the person’s head or feet. Receiving Reiki is a wonderfully passive experience. Don't try to relax, just let the Reiki relax you. Your state will shift quite naturally as the session proceeds. Meanwhile feel free to daydream, enjoy the music, or simply observe your breath or the sensations of the therapy.
Each person experiences Reiki differently depending on their individual needs at the time. Benefits reported by recipients include deep relaxation promoting a calm, peaceful sense of well being on all levels. Some people feel sensations of heat, tingling, or experience seeing colors, while others can have an emotional response, indicating that shifts are taking place, allowing harmony to be restored. Often nothing is felt directly. Instead, the body takes the time to incorporate the changes applied by the attuned Reiki Practitioner and the benefits may not be felt until after a session is complete, sometimes even days later.
All in all, Reiki is a gentle healing art that uses an “energetic dance” between the practitioner and recipient to create holistic healing throughout the systems of the body.
